Teams at NSF NCAR - The National Center for Atmospheric Research

Manages multidisciplinary research and development projects involving infrastructure, instrumentation, scientific programs, and technical systems. Oversees scope, schedules, budgets, risks, requirements, performance metrics, deliverables, and change control. Coordinates internal teams, federal agencies, sponsors, and other stakeholders while applying predictive, agile, and hybrid methodologies. Develops project plans, status reports, communications, mitigation strategies, and process improvements within the PMO.

The Science Writer develops compelling stories about atmospheric and Earth system science for public, media, policymaker, funder, and other audiences. Responsibilities include cultivating scientist relationships, identifying newsworthy research, writing and editing communications materials, creating multimedia content, consulting with external-facing teams, and training scientists in effective communications and media engagement.

Leads UCAR’s Science Education program, setting strategic direction, overseeing budgets and fundraising, managing staff, developing STEM education initiatives, and building partnerships with sponsors, government agencies, scientific organizations, and communities. The Director ensures program quality, scientific accuracy, organizational effectiveness, and an ethical, inclusive workplace while contributing to broader UCAR leadership and operations.
