Underwrite equipment breakdown insurance, including risk selection, pricing, portfolio management, and deal negotiation. Build and maintain agent and broker relationships, grow a profitable book of business, document underwriting decisions, follow regulations and guidelines, and execute marketing plans. Mentor less experienced underwriters and account analysts while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Independently manage moderately complex civil litigation matters, including research, pleadings, discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and settlement negotiations. Develop legal strategies, advise clients and claims representatives, evaluate risk, use e-discovery and case management technologies, ensure regulatory and ethical compliance, mentor junior attorneys, conduct training, and improve legal workflows.

This 11-week internship provides hands-on training in surety underwriting, financial analysis, risk assessment, relationship management, and business decision-making. Interns work alongside experienced underwriters, evaluate financial strength and business risk, support bonding decisions, participate in mentorship and job shadowing, and learn about the surety bonding process through the AFSB curriculum.
