AcuityMD Career Growth & Development

AcuityMD Employee Perspectives

What makes your role now a dream job? What do you get to do that you didn’t at other companies?

I get to work with complex data! Dream fulfilled. There is no shortage of puzzles to solve and creative solutions to implement. And our company culture and size allow us to toss around ideas and experiment. On top of that, everyone on our team is really invested in how we go about building things. We dive deep in team meetings, which has helped me learn a lot in a short time.

What do you think helped you land the job? Were you able to bring any special expertise or project experience that AcuityMD found valuable?

I had worked for a while with healthcare data in different capacities, first as a customer success manager, then as an analyst, and then more as a data scientist. I think having these different lenses, at the very least, gave me an interesting perspective I could talk about during the interview process. I certainly feel those experiences help me in my day-to-day work.

What do you think helps engineers move up quickly or be the top pick for a competitive employer? What should engineers seek out if they hope to move up or be hired by their “dream” company?

We have a lot of really talented data engineering-focused folks, and they’ll always be needed. That said, the coding tools are getting better every day, and it’s increasingly going to take more than knowing SQL really well to do this type of work. Being able to think through and implement valuable metrics, manage projects, understand your customers, effectively communicate your work — many of these “soft” skills are actually “critical” skills. (All things I’m still working on, by the way.) Also, this is a fast-moving field! Be able to show that you’re consistently learning and adapting.

Which skills do you leverage most often in your day-to-day work?

First and foremost, I leverage emotional intelligence. Whether I’m engaging with customers, guiding my team or working with internal stakeholders, staying grounded in EQ is essential. I’m also a big believer in time blocking. It helps me build consistent, repeatable motions that drive success across my team. And finally, I’m all in on AI. It’s become a daily tool for building use cases, crafting impactful emails and even helping me connect better with three teenagers at home.

How have these skills enabled you to heighten your impact on AcuityMD or grow your career?

EQ has helped me build trust and influence across teams and customers, which is critical in a cross-functional, high-growth environment. It’s allowed me to navigate tough conversations, coach effectively and drive alignment. Time blocking has improved my consistency and focus; it ensures I’m not just reacting but proactively driving outcomes that move the business forward. And leveraging AI has expanded both my speed and creativity. It’s helped me scale communication, refine strategy and stay ahead of the curve — whether that’s with a customer pitch or mentoring my team.

What are some resources and/or sources of inspiration you’d recommend for reps eager to refine their sales skills? Are there resources AcuityMD has provided to support this growth?

I recommend making AI part of your daily workflow. At AcuityMD, we use Gemini to strengthen emails, build use cases and generate ideas quickly. I’m also a big advocate for Gong; it provides post-call summaries, helps you revisit key moments in discovery or demos, and makes it easy to share clips with customer success, solutions engineering or product to align on customer needs. The performance insights, like talk ratio, question rate and follow-up rates, are invaluable for helping AEs improve and build repeatable, high-impact motions.

How does AcuityMD support career progression for sales professionals beyond performance metrics?

For me, career progression starts with potential and independent initiative, not just quota attainment. Performance/effort definitely earns trust through consistency, but we also look for people who invest in themselves, seek feedback, take on challenges outside their role and consistently raise the bar for those around them.

One thing I appreciate about AcuityMD is that leaders are encouraged to help people grow toward the career they want, even if it’s beyond their current role. That means creating clear development plans, providing opportunities and making coaching an ongoing investment rather than something that’s only tied to hitting a number.

What training, mentorship or coaching programs have been most effective in developing talent internally?

The most effective development happens when formal learning is paired with real-world application. We’ve seen the biggest impact by combining consistent coaching, peer shadowing and structured learning resources with opportunities to immediately put those skills into practice.

Just as importantly, we’ve worked to create a culture where feedback is continuous and reciprocal, not reserved for quarterly reviews. That combination of ongoing coaching, clear expectations and investment in long-term growth has helped people build confidence and prepare for their next role, not just improve in their current one.

Can you share an example of someone who advanced through the ranks because of your development programs or culture?

One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing people grow into roles they were intentional about pursuing. Baylee Hassell, a sales development representative on my team, transitioned into sales enablement after consistently demonstrating a passion for coaching and helping others improve. Will Housley and Marina Russo, who also started as SDRs at AcuityMD, both advanced into account manager roles by pairing strong performance with a genuine commitment to developing the skills needed for the next level.

Those moves weren’t just the result of hitting numbers. They reflected curiosity, initiative, coachability and a will to invest in their own growth. That’s the kind of progression we try to create at AcuityMD — giving people the support, opportunities and feedback to build careers, not just succeed in their current role.
