10.10.10 is different. We are an organization and a program that develops market-based solutions to the world’s “Wicked Problems.” We are not a charity or a think tank. We focus specifically on market-based solutions because, after all, that’s what entrepreneurs do.

These wicked problems are problems that span the areas of health, water, food, energy and learning and impact society, our nation, or the world. Although 10.10.10 is a nonprofit organization, our approach to finding solutions to big problems is rooted in entrepreneurship; we challenge successful entrepreneurs seeking their next venture to launch a startup that will bring to market a sustainable solution that addresses a wicked problem.

In February, 2015 10.10.10 will host its inaugural program in downtown Denver. This ten day program will focus on Health; ten CEOs will explore ten identified wicked health problems over ten days. The goal after the ten days is a short list of fundable startup companies with significant market potential, companies creating and bringing to market truly innovative solutions to wicked problems.

We admit 10.10.10 has audacious goals – and we know it will take more than just highly motivated CEOs at the helm of these newly-formed companies to succeed. During the event, successful entrepreneurs will be joined by problem advocates and validators. Problem advocates serve as champions for specific wicked problems in health. On day one of the program, they give passionate pitches, encouraging the CEOs to explore solutions to problems like Alzheimer’s care, childhood obesity, superbugs, and more.  The validators bring to the program their first-hand knowledge of the problem and invaluable market insight. All work closely with the entrepreneurs to vet possible solutions. 10.10.10 founder Tom Higley is a successful Denver entrepreneur, the founder and CEO of six startups. He knows what it takes to bring a big idea to fruition.

“We want to harness the ambition of CEOs who are handpicked to lead the charge. For them, this is not just about starting their next venture. It’s the chance to learn about wicked problems, explore and invent solutions and even reinvent themselves in preparation for an opportunity that could have a lasting impact on the world. ”  says Higley.

To be sure, 10.10.10 seeks only motivated and passionate individuals undaunted by the prospect of being part of something that has never been done before. For Higley, bringing all of the constituents together with a common mission creates a unique model with huge potential.

“We are focusing on wicked problems because these bigger problems are doors that lead to bigger opportunities. And if there is no obvious return on investment for a solution to a wicked problem, it is not a fundable solution. In fact, it is critical that everyone involved – from the CEO, to validators, to investors – come together in service of a goal that has the potential deliver substantial value to all stakeholders,” says Higley.
