Denver-based WellTok Inc. has acquired IncentOne, a New Jersey healthcare incentive and design management company, hoping the combined resources of the two businesses will create a platform matching consumers to personalized activities designed to improve their health.

WellTok works with insurers, health systems and other organizations to manage their population health-improvement and wellness programs by aligning social-media and gaming technologies with incentives and rewards.

Its CaféWell suite of product offerings can reach as many as 20 million consumers through health plans and health systems.

IncentOne has assembled a data set on how incentives drive behavior change based on nearly 40 million transaction and more than 4,000 incentive programs. By integrating technologies, the combined company can provide rewards to motivate positive behaviors, officials said.

“Though we’re still in the early stages of consumer activation in healthcare, it’s clear that every population health manager including health plans, health systems and accountable care organizations will need two foundational capabilities — consumer engagement and incentive management,” said Jeff Margolis, WellTok chairman and CEO.

No details about the price of the acquisition were announced.
