In 1969, the company that would later become Vertafore began developing software solutions that utilized punched cards to handle the complex data needs of insurance companies.

In the 1960s and 1970s, as businesses began to adopt electronic data processing, insurance companies faced the challenge of managing vast amounts of policyholder information, claims data and regulatory records. Punched cards offered a way to automate and streamline these tasks, laying the foundation for more sophisticated systems.

These cards, each representing a specific set of data through a pattern of punched holes, were fed into computers to perform calculations, sort information, and generate reports. This innovation enabled insurance firms to process large volumes of data more efficiently, reducing errors and improving customer service. Vertafore’s early work with punched cards exemplified the company's ongoing commitment to leveraging technology to solve industry-specific challenges.

As computing technology evolved, so did Vertafore’s offerings. The company transitioned from punched cards to more advanced data storage and processing technologies as broader technological trends evolved.

Today, Vertafore’s software solutions are far removed from the punched card systems of the past, yet the company’s core mission remains the same: to provide tools that enhance efficiency, accuracy and compliance in the insurance industry. Modern Vertafore products use advanced analytics, cloud computing and artificial intelligence to manage and analyze vast amounts of data in real time.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I've been at Vertafore for about 5 and a half years. I started in the customer success org as a customer success specialist where I worked with our smaller customers to help get them training and other product resources. I then moved into a customer success manager role where I had the opportunity to manage a specific group of customers. In this position I worked with teams throughout the company.

While in customer success, I learned a lot about the insurance industry and managing different priorities and customer needs at once. I eventually moved over to the talent acquisition team where I was able to use my customer and product knowledge to help candidates get a better understanding of Vertafore and our customers. Since I've joined talent acquisition, I've had a lot of visibility into HR laws and processes. Throughout my time at Vertafore I've strengthened my business acumen, time management and organizational skills.
