Terra CO2 and Eagle Materials have announced exclusive agreements to produce low-carbon cementitious material in high-demand areas, including the greater Denver market. The agreements grant Eagle Materials the exclusive right to build and operate plants that produce supplementary cementitious material, or SCM, in each geographic area. Each plant has the potential to produce approximately 240,000 tons per year of SCM. This partnership aims to help states and the construction industry achieve their environmental goals and initiatives, such as reducing embodied carbon emissions in construction materials.
Headquartered in Golden, Terra CO2’s OPUS SCM is a one-to-one replacement of traditional SCMs and doesn’t require additional infrastructure or cement design investments. The technology converts local feedstocks into high-performing, climate-friendly SCMs. These agreements are part of Terra’s efforts to accelerate the deployment of its commercial plants through strategic partnerships and capital investment.
The exclusive agreements between Terra CO2 and Eagle Materials represent a step toward reducing the carbon intensity of cementitious materials and meeting the increasing demand for cement. Terra’s technology offers a sustainable solution supports initiatives like the Buy Clean Colorado Act. The partnership aims to create a reliable supply of low-carbon construction materials and contribute to the industry’s efforts to address climate change.
