Maxwell Financial Labs closes funding round
Mortgage-focused fintech startup Maxwell Financial Labs announced $1.95 million in funding this week. The round was led by MATH Venture Partners, Techstars Ventures, Zelkova Ventures and Sovereign’s Capital. The company, which launched its commercial platform in August, plans to use the funds to add to their engineering team, along with launching a mortgage automation platform. [Press Release]

Occipital launches mixed-reality headset
Earlier this week, Boulder-based Occipital announced the launch of Bridge, a mixed-reality headset developed to work with the company’s existing Structure sensor. Users can select immersive virtual reality simulations or mixed-reality experiences. Bridge is unique in its positional tracking and obstacle avoidance features; units are available to pre-order for $399. [Occipital]
Galvanize gets expansion grant
This week, Galvanize was awarded a $1.3 million grant from the State of New York’s Regional Economic Development Council to support its New York City office. Slated to be Galvanize’s eighth campus, they plan to use the money for renovations of the office space. The tech education and coworking company was selected as part of an economic development plan designed to help people experiencing poverty have upward mobility by developing their careers. Inside Denver’s smart city experiment
A partnership between Denver and Panasonic designed to build a smart city is well under way, according to a profile in the Denver Post this week. At Peña Station Next, workers are installing features like smart streetlights and developing autonomous shuttles that will transport passengers from the Peña Station light rail stop to the city. IQNavigator merges with Beeline
Denver’s IQNavigator (IQN) announced this week they’ve merged with Beeline, one of their main competitors. IQN develops software designed to help companies manage external vendors, while Jacksonville, FL-based Beeline handles sourcing and management for the extended workforce. The two companies plan to develop an integrated product and brand as they move forward with the merger. [Press release]
LivingInk wins grant
Fort Collins-based LivingInk announced they’ve won a $225,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. The company will use the Small Business Innovation Research grant to continue research and development of their algae-based ink and the commercialization of their products. [Press release]
