Denver ranked among top cities for outdoorsy entrepreneurs

A new report from TechInsurance listed Denver among the top places for tech entrepreneurs to live. The city got special props for its accessibility to the outdoors, including its proximity to the mountains and acreage of local parks. Optiv files for IPO

Denver-based cybersecurity company Optiv filed for an IPO this week, with a fundraising target of $100 million. The company plans to list its stock under the OPTV symbol on the New York Stock Exchange. [Fortune]

Occipital launches 3D home scanning app

Boulder VR company Occipital released their newest app this week. Called Canvas, the app uses the company’s Structure sensor to create a 3D scan of anything from rooms to objects. The app allows users to scan to CAD, making it easier and cheaper to create and manipulate 3D models of the real world. [WIRED]

 

Greystone Technology raises $2M

Earlier this week, Greystone Technology Group announced they’d raised $2 million in funding from Cypress Growth Capital. The Boulder company, which provides IT consulting, digital marketing and web development services to clients, said they will use the royalty-based growth capital to scale their services and to break into the enterprise space. The company also expects to hire 15 employees in the new year. [Blog post]

 

Couragion wins Startup of the Year at CTA’s APEX awards

As part of the Colorado Technology Association’s APEX Awards, local edtech startup Couragion won Startup of the Year. The Denver company aims to get students more interested in pursuing STEM careers by exposing them to STEM professionals and giving them the opportunity to explore different types of careers. HomeAdvisor to grow its Indianapolis presence

Golden’s HomeAdvisor announced this week they plan to expand their operations in Indianapolis, bringing another 170 jobs to the city. Though the company also has U.S. offices in Kansas City and New York, the expansion will make Indianapolis the only city in which they have two offices. [Indianapolis Business Journal]

Squirrelbox wins $20K in FirstBank video competition

Earlier this month, Denver-based valet storage company Squirrelbox won $20,000 in a video competition hosted by FirstBank. Through the company’s online platform, customers order storage where Squirrelbox will drop off boxes, pick them up and keep them safe and secure. When customers want their stuff back, Squirrelbox will deliver their boxes within 48 hours. [BusinessDen]
