Maxar, a company specializing in geospatial positioning technology, has launched Raptor, a software suite aimed at enhancing GPS resilience in autonomous drones. Raptor leverages Maxar’s 3D terrain data to provide precise navigation and ground coordinate extraction, even in environments where GPS signals are weak or unavailable.
Maxar works to provide secure and precise geospatial services, operating an advanced commercial Earth observation constellation. The company uses high-resolution satellite imagery and software to deliver ground insights that enhance safety, navigation, environmental protection and disaster response.
The company’s new Raptor suite consists of three main components: Raptor Guide, Raptor Sync and Raptor Ace. Raptor Guide employs vision-based positioning to help drones accurately determine their aerial position, Raptor Sync georegisters the drone’s full-motion video feed with Maxar’s 3D terrain data and Raptor Ace works with drone controllers to help operators extract real-time target ground coordinates.
