As the landscape of the sales industry evolves, potential candidates seek not just a job but an experience, not just work they enjoy doing but the ability to make an impact in alignment with their values and professional aspirations.

One sales professional lucky enough to find that alignment is Alyssa Pavlik, a commercial account executive at Red Canary.

“When I first began my career roughly 10 years ago, I didn’t fully appreciate the significance of a company that truly valued ethics and culture — it seemed like a cliché checklist item,” Pavlik said. “After working for several corporations, I have drastically changed that mindset and now highly value those two concepts.”

Even before joining the company, Pavlik saw Red Canary’s values and culture shine. “I was impressed by the intelligence and kindness of the individuals that interviewed me during the hiring process,” she recalled.

Once she came aboard, she saw those same qualities at work across the team. She found that the leaders were especially good at balancing the high-intensity pace of the tech world with a personable and values-aligned culture.

“Our founders consistently prioritize adapting to the rapidly evolving cyber environment while maintaining a positive and kind culture,” she said.

In an industry inundated with choices, Red Canary’s commitment to innovation, positive culture and a product that excites its team sets it apart for a new hire like Pavlik. Built In learned more about what drew her to the company, why she is excited about Red Canary’s product and what makes the Denver headquarters a special place to work.

Commercial Account Executive • Red Canary

Red Canary is a cybersecurity technology company delivering cloud- based security services.

As a sales representative, what were you looking for in your next role when you started your most recent job search?

With a background in finance, I naturally had an Excel spreadsheet with a comprehensive rating system of companies that I was evaluating. My checklist for assessing companies now encompasses not only a strong financial outlook but also a track record of sustained growth and adaptability, leadership that is deeply invested in their team, opportunities for career advancement and competitive compensation and benefits.

From a sales perspective, I was also evaluating the success of my soon-to-be peers and team at Red Canary, support of ongoing sales training and professional development, and the hiring director’s management style. And, I really wanted to work for a company that had a headquarters in Denver because I love having work friendships, — free snacks and coffee.

What stood out to you about your Red Canary, and how has that perception changed since you’ve started?

Aside from aligning with the criteria from my spreadsheet —, such as the swanky downtown office —, what truly stood out about Red Canary was the genuine impact of its product on teams all across the country. Throughout my time here, I have only gained a deeper appreciation for Red Canary. I have nothing but positive things to say about the people I work with, and I am excited to see the company continue to grow.

From a selling perspective, what sets Red Canary apart from others you’ve worked at in the past?

Red Canary is the first company that I have worked for that has a product I am genuinely excited about. Cybersecurity is a quickly evolving space, and Red Canary is a highly adaptable company consistently focused on being ahead of the market while also investing in developments that will make a significant impact for our current customers.

One of my colleagues with a ton of industry experience always says, “I would sell Red Canary to a family member or best friend,” and that really demonstrates to me the value we provide and the trust our sales team has in the product we are selling.

Furthermore, the company has brilliant individuals who are always ready to jump in and help; our sales engineers, CSMs, directors and engineers are all top-notch. I have always felt a part of a team working towards a collective goal.
