Gogo, a Broomfield-based company specializing in aircraft connectivity services, recently completed its acquisition of Satcom Direct, a provider of satellite communication solutions. Gogo acquired the company through a combination of $375 million in cash and 5 million shares of its stock.
Gogo offers in-flight connectivity solutions for the global business aviation and government sectors. It provides customizable smart cabin systems, including connectivity, entertainment and voice services. Satcom Direct serves the business aviation, military and government sectors, offering multi-orbit, multi-band connectivity options, such as geostationary Earth orbit satellite systems.
The deal is expected to accelerate sales of Gogo’s upcoming Galileo low Earth satellite product. Alongside selling the solution to Satcom Direct’s customer base, Gogo will leverage the company’s sales force and presence in the military and government market.
Following the acquisition, Gogo has undergone several leadership changes. Chris Moore, previously the president of Satcom Direct, has been appointed as Gogo’s new CEO, succeeding Oakleigh Thorne who has transitioned to the role of executive chair. Zachary Cotner, formerly Satcom Direct’s chief financial officer, will serve as CFO of the combined company.
