Whether a rookie or a master, everyone has the potential to improve.
The team culture at TurboTenant is rooted in this belief, a drive to “Be Better.” This mindset encourages employees to take ownership of their personal and professional development, striving to enhance their skills, knowledge and capabilities continually.
To support this, TurboTenant provides resources and opportunities for learning and growth, including formal training programs, access to industry experts and simply encouraging a growth mindset. This emphasis on self-improvement creates a dynamic environment where employees are motivated to push their boundaries, set ambitious goals and work towards achieving them.
While the “Be Better” culture emphasizes individual growth, it is also deeply intertwined with the principle of collaboration. At TurboTenant, collaboration is not just encouraged — it is essential. The company recognizes that the most innovative ideas and solutions emerge when diverse perspectives come together. This collaborative spirit is embedded in the way teams work, communicate and solve problems.
Ultimately, the company is working to build an environment where employees are pushed to reach their potential, enabled to make an impact on their industry and engaged deeply on a high-performing team.
Built In heard from the company’s Director of People and Culture Sarah McTate about how this culture influences her work each day.
TurboTenant is a property management platform that offers landlords tools for listing rental properties, screening tenants and managing leases, all online.
Describe your company culture in one word.
Collaborative. We expect everyone at TurboTenant to collaborate across all levels, roles and teams to accomplish impactful work. Giving and receiving feedback is a part of this collaboration as well. Doing so ensures no one is stagnant and that we’re all unlocking the potential in ourselves and others through our work.
We also strive to have fun while doing all of this. It’s not enough to achieve a task or complete a project. We want to enjoy the little moments along the way.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?
I’ve been with the company for six years, and thinking about the growth of so many individuals over that time is hard to put into a few sentences. We went from having a completely separate culture with values on the wall that were rarely looked at to creating our “Be Better” culture, which is woven into every aspect of the company. Our culture is something that guides us forward and helps us keep on course during the most micro of moments and tasks all the way up to huge projects and the overall direction of the company. It’s also helped us create massive paths of growth for so many at the company.
Using myself as an example, I was hired as a project manager in 2018 then went into operations handling a wide variety of tasks. As we grew and were able to hire team members to specialize in functions like accounting and finance, I was able to focus on the area I love — people! I now get to focus on building systems and processes that support the people at TurboTenant to crush their work and feel good while doing it, too.
