Ever wanted to look inside a tech company? To see how they work and to meet the people who work there? Of course you do! Lots of people do. But between capturing market share & inventing the next big thing most tech companies don’t have time to give private tours and host office hours.

That’s the genius of NewCo Boulder. Next week Boulder’s biggest tech companies are inviting conference goers inside their doors for 'sessions,' as part of NewCo. The event, which takes place all day November 18th, will include 44 of Boulder’s biggest and most interesting tech companies, including Galvanize, Techstars, PivotDesk and Google’s local office.

“We are excited about the event because it is an event that really spans all industry boundaries, and gives you a chance to see companies in your backyard that are doing amazing and innovative things,” said Rich Maloy co-organizer of NewCo Boulder and community development manager at Softlayer.

Each participating company will host a session: a talk focused on their area of expertise or a discussion on their work more generally. Food and drink is often provided and company tours are usually included.

A citywide open house, the conference offers far more speaking events than your typical tech event. “You can have far more speakers and participants because you aren’t limited by the space of the conference center,” said Maloy. “We are able to offer this for free because we aren’t paying for a conference space.”

The conference is free, the only thing attendees need to do is sign up for the events they want to attend. Sign up soon because many of the host-company sessions are already filling up.

But don’t feel like you have to commit a big chunk of your time for the event. “Due to the nature of it you don’t have to go all day,” said Maloy. “If you just want to attend one event you can do that.”

The format of the event offers the best of both worlds: lots of speakers and space for attendees, with the flexibility to come and go whenever. As tech conferences go, you could say the format is rather innovative.

Ultimately, the conference is about innovation and what sets these tech companies apart from the pack. “Every company is going to tell their story of how they are innovating,” said Maloy. “Every company has their own story of innovation and we are giving them a format where they can share their own story.”
