Colorado employs over 32,000 workers in the bioscience industry and may soon employ more as one company in the sector plans to expand its local presence and hire more workers.

On Monday, Gov. Jared Polis announced that Agilent will expand its operations in Frederick, a town just north of Denver.

Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, bioscience company Agilent already has a presence in the state and currently employs more than 700 workers at its manufacturing facility. This local facility develops treatments for several diseases and infections.

“Agilent’s presence in Colorado is an important element of our focus on supporting high-growth businesses and the customers we serve,” Mike McMullen, Agilent president and CEO, said in a statement. “The resources, talent and support we have in the state have helped and will continue to help us achieve our long-term growth objectives.”

Agilent is investing $725 million into the Frederick facility for its expansion. The money will double the facility’s manufacturing capabilities and employ more workers — including tech talent.

According to a release, Agilent will hire technical engineers, writers, supply chain specialists, project managers and talent for bioscience roles. Its website also has several job listings for sales, marketing and software engineering positions.

“This exciting addition to Colorado’s thriving bioscience and life science industry brings hundreds of good paying jobs to Frederick, Weld County and our state and builds upon our work making Colorado the best place to live, work and do business,” Polis, said in a statement.
