The new year is here and Colorado tech companies wasted little time announcing new initiatives and plans. Read up on the Department of Veterans Affairs’ plan to recruit laid-off tech workers or catch up on the latest aerospace partnership that will build a low-orbit space station. Colorado tech companies raised billions in 2022. Built In Colorado tracked the 10 largest funding rounds of 2022, which totaled a collective $2.68 billion. VA announced plans to recruit Colorado tech workers. The Colorado Department of Veterans Affairs is looking to attract recently laid-off tech talent. It intends to hire product managers, web designers and cybersecurity experts, among other positions and has about 1,000 open tech positions. According to the Denver Business Journal, the department may also increase salaries for these open tech positions to attract workers. [Denver Business Journal]

Voyager Space partnered with Airbus. Under the partnership, both companies will develop a free-flying space station titled Starlab that will launch in 2028. The station will be in low-Earth orbit and be used by NASA, researchers and other space agencies. Voyager Space is a space tech company that has contributed to over 1,500 successful missions. Denver entrepreneurship center finds office. Denver City Council’s Finance and Governance Committee approved a five-year lease for an entrepreneurship center focusing on minority-led and women-led startups. The agreement will now go before City Council for final approval. The new center is intended to be modeled after the Commons on Champa, a downtown location for entrepreneurs.
