As 2023 approaches, tech companies are brainstorming innovative strategies for the future. Fresh ways to solve problems, streamline the user experience, smash revenue goals and educate customer bases about new products all linger on the mind — especially for the go-to-market teams dedicated to making these products a reality.

Sales, customer success, product and marketing teams all work in tandem to not only build out a beneficial service in need, but target the right audience and showcase exactly why and how a customer’s existing problems can be alleviated by their latest innovative offerings.

For digital experience platform Contentful, experts realize that today’s businesses are looking to improve the customer experience, but also quickly respond to changes in the market while improving security. Through Contentful’s composable content platform, their go-to-market teams strive to lead the way in seamless digital experiences.

“Our goal is to demonstrate what’s possible with a new approach to building digital experiences with composable content at the core,” said Matt Vosburg, senior enterprise account executive. “Fundamental to this is building understanding of what composable content is, why it matters and how it can transform businesses of all sizes across industries.”

At compliance organization OneTrust, pipeline generation is taking center stage for their ambitious 2023 go-to-market strategies. By effectively taking ownership, VP of Sales Carter McCrory believes that every team member can deliver successful business value to the clients they serve.

To learn more about how Colorado's tech scene is flying boldly into new skyward possibilities, Built In Colorado caught up with Vosburg and McCrory about their biggest go-to-market priorities in the new year and the essential skills helping land job seekers a spot on their teams.

The best part? Both companies are hiring now.

What’s one character trait or skill set that a successful candidate should have to land a spot on your team?

To be successful at Contentful, there are a couple traits or perspectives a candidate should either have or develop.

The first is an entrepreneurial mindset. We are a company of builders and serve developers, digital marketers and content teams who build within our products. Those who are comfortable having a similar builder’s mindset are most successful. What this means for employees is being excited about innovating, and finding new ways to solve problems and meet business goals.

The second is an understanding and alignment with our core values: Be humble, start with the customer and work backwards, embody a growth mindset and strive together. Personally, I connect the most with our core value of “strive together.” Our cross-functional teams foster a supportive culture of collaboration, but also collective accountability and urgency to achieve great results. On the sales team, candidates should be comfortable taking full ownership of their book of business. This includes proactively bringing solutions to your customers and building trust and support with your team.

What’s the biggest priority for your go-to-market teams in 2023, and why is it important for the success of the business as a whole?

In 2023, our biggest focus will be to build awareness and educate about the power of a composable content platform. Whether customers are focused on e-commerce, knowledge base or global marketing initiatives, companies and business users are looking to improve the customer or user experience, quickly respond to changes in the market, improve privacy and security, build and implement new functionality and innovate faster.

From our founding, we have defined and led the API-first headless CMS category. Now, our accelerating digital-first world requires a composable content platform that enables companies to create, connect and extend content to more easily deliver innovative digital experiences quickly and at scale — and Contentful is leading the way.

Our goal is to demonstrate what’s possible with a new approach to building digital experiences with composable content at the core.”

How would you describe your team culture in a single word, and why would you choose that word?

Curious. On the sales team, we regularly discuss a wide variety of digital experiences, technologies and workflows with our customers. Our team fosters a sense of curiosity to discover where we can best support digital teams and find solutions to their growing digital demands. This closely relates to our “embody a growth mindset” core value. We are encouraged to try new strategies, learn from our mistakes and continue to improve.

What’s one character trait or skill set that a successful candidate should have to land a spot on your team?

Ownership. In most aspects of life and business, owning the inputs and the outputs — even when things don’t go well — is a typical sign of a quality candidate.

Everyone works to support the wins and shares that collective victory together.”

What’s the biggest priority for your go-to-market teams in 2023, and why is it important for the success of the business as a whole?

For the go-to-meet team, pipeline generation will yield the biggest impact. To do that effectively, the teams will need to focus on their key buying personas and the personal and business value they can derive from working with OneTrust.

How would you describe your team culture in a single word, and why would you choose that word?

Collaborative. Everyone works to support the wins and shares that collective victory together. Building a team where everyone feels safe in sharing and asking for support or help is key to everyone’s success, as well as the larger team as a whole. Everyone works together to get better every day.
