Denver-based Healthgrades is making some big changes. The company announced earlier this week it will rebrand to Mercury Healthcare after selling its online marketplace, healthgrades.com.

Healthgrades.com, which connects patients to doctors, hospitals and more, sold to RV Health for an undisclosed amount.

“This represents the culmination of a two-year strategy focused on building, then separating, two highly successful but ultimately different businesses — our marketplace business and our technology business — each with enormous opportunities,” Jovan Willford, CEO of Mercury Healthcare, said in a statement.

Mercury Healthcare will focus on its data- and software-as-a-service offerings. The company will use analytics and insights from provider data and patients to create a “seamless experience across all physical and digital touchpoints for the nation’s health systems,” according to a news release.

The more than 200 Healthgrades.com employees will join RV Health’s parent company Red Ventures. The website’s leadership team will remain in Denver and Atlanta.

Charlotte, North Carolina-based RV Health describes itself as the “world’s largest digital health platform” with more than 275 million people visiting their websites (Healthline.com, Medicalnewstoday.com, Greatist.com and Psychcentral.com) each month.

“With the addition of Healthgrades.com, RV Health now has the industry’s leading digital health platform,” RV Health CEO Jeff Hallock said in a statement. “Bringing the leading healthcare marketplace together alongside the world’s largest health information property, we are transforming the online health journey from seeking health information online to finding the care they deserve.”
