Denver-based startup Fluid Truck will continue growing in Colorado, the company announced Tuesday.

After Colorado competed with Georgia, Arizona and Idaho, Fluid Truck decided to remain in the Centennial state, expand its headquarters and add 1,483 new, full-time jobs over the next eight years.

Fluid Truck created an app-based truck sharing platform that allows users to access a variety of box trucks, cargo vans, SUVs, cars, pick-up trucks and trailers at any time. Users book a vehicle online and pick it up from a nearby location. The vehicles can be booked daily, weekly or hourly.

“We are excited to build Fluid here in Denver,” James Eberhard, Fluid Truck’s CEO and founder, said in a statement. “We believe Colorado has all the elements to create big companies outside of the coast and look forward to helping grow the next wave of technology leaders and innovators.”

The new positions will range from finance and management to administration and engineering with an average annual salary of $163,677. According to the statement, this is higher than any Colorado county’s average annual wage.

“We’re proud of home-grown businesses like Fluid Truck who have had great success here in Colorado and choose to continue growing in our great state,” Governor Jared Polis said in the statement. “We hope that they can serve as inspiration to many others who look to do the same. As Fluid Truck creates 1,500 more gold jobs for Coloradans, we know that our highly skilled talent pool and entrepreneurial spirit have helped make it possible.”

This announcement follows Fluid Truck’s $63 million Series A funding round in early March. The company also recently partnered with Loveland-based Lightning eMotors and IKEA.

Founded in 2016, Fluid Truck began in Colorado as an item-sharing marketplace. The company rebranded to become a truck sharing platform in 2019. Fluid Truck saw significant growth in 2020 with the launch of nine new markets and revenue growing by 6x. The company’s rentals are now available in 30 markets across the U.S.
