The Grand Junction Economic Partnership, an economic development agency focused on supporting business growth in Mesa County, announced Thursday that Colorado-based cloud distribution startup Pax8 is planning to create a “remote work hub” in Grand Junction as part of its latest hiring push.

“Pax8 has done its due diligence, touring Grand Junction and learning more about our community,” said Mara Hardy, the business development manager at the GJEP, in a statement. “They’ve identified it as a great place to live and do business, and a place with highly qualified talent. It aligns well with their mission and goals, and we are excited about the new opportunities for our residents.”

This latest move is part of a much larger statewide effort to create more tech job opportunities in rural parts of Colorado.

The last time Built In caught up with Pax8 was in February, when it announced plans to hire 1,800 people throughout the state over the next eight years. At the time, the company had just received GJEP’s Local Neutral Employee (LONE) incentive, and was offered nearly $19 million in tax credits and $275,000 from the state’s strategic fund in order to create more job opportunities in rural areas.

“Our mission is to build an inclusive culture that encourages and celebrates diversity and inspires positive change in our people and communities,” said Cleve Lewis, Pax8’s VP of empowerment programs, in a statement. “Supporting collaborative economic development programs across the state is key to helping us achieve our goal of empowering underserved communities as well as fostering the successful growth of Pax8 over the next decade.”

Founded in Greenwood Village in 2012, Pax8 simplifies cloud buying and improves its clients’ operational efficiency by aggregating all the services a small or medium-sized business needs (like billing and post-sale support) and bringing it all on its Stax platform.

The company currently employs more than 500 people throughout the state and plans to grow its engineering, sales and design teams.
