Pax8, a cloud distribution technology startup, announced Thursday that it plans to hire up to 1,800 people in its ad sales, partner support, engineering and human resource departments over the next eight years, as reported by the Denver Business Journal.

The Greenwood Village-based company was founded in 2012 to simplify cloud buying and improve operational efficiency by aggregating all the services a small or medium-sized business needs — from billing to post-sale support — on its Pax8 Stax platform.

Now, Pax8 employs more than 430 people, the majority of whom are in Colorado, according to its Built In profile. The company was also ranked the No. 1 on the Denver Business Journal’s Fast 50 list of growing companies in 2019.

“When we created Pax8, we though no one would be dumb enough to start another distribution company. But we did — and we hung in there for long enough to become an established player in the industry,” CEO John Street said in an interview with Built In last May. “We are now thought leaders in this space and proud to be the example of what the next generation of distribution should offer.”

Thursday’s announcement comes on the heels of the company being offered almost $19 million in job growth incentive tax credits from the Colorado Economic Development Commission under the alias “Project Sky.”

The state also awarded Pax8 $275,000 to create rural and remote positions. According to the Denver Post, the company says 55 of the 1,852 jobs it will hire for will be in rural parts of the state.

Pax8 will reportedly invest $45 million to pay employees an average annual wage of $106,112 a year.

“We see so much opportunity and talent in the region to help us maintain our competitive edge and continue to be the world’s best place to buy cloud products,” Street said in a statement to the Denver Business Journal. “As a homegrown Colorado business, we are excited about our continued job growth and commitment to expand our operations here in Colorado.”
