San Fran-based Checkr considers Denver for HQ2, could bring 1400 new jobs

Checkr, the San Francisco-based startup working to streamline the process of employee background checks, is eyeing Denver for its second headquarters — which could bring more than 1,400 new jobs to the city. Last Thursday, the Colorado Economic Development Commission approved $27.8 million in job growth incentive tax credits for the company in exchange for adding 1,472 new jobs in Colorado over the next eight years. Opening a second office in Denver would enable the company to keep pace with its rapid growth — something it’s struggled to do in San Francisco’s tight labor and real estate market. While Denver appears to be a top contender, Texas and Georgia are also on Checkr’s shortlist of possible locations. [Read more.]

Iterable eyes international expansion after closing $50M Series C

Iterable landed a whopping $50 million Series C investment this week for the expansion of its cross-channel marketing platform. The round saw participation from Blue Cloud Ventures, CRV, Harmony Partners, Index Ventures and Stereo Capital, and brings the startup’s total capital raised to date to $80 million. Headquartered in San Francisco, Iterable also has growing hubs in Denver and New York City. The funding will support continued growth across all three of the company’s markets as well additional expansion into Europe and Asia. [Read more.]

Carbonite completes acquisition of Broomfield-based Webroot

Boston-based data protection giant Carbonite closed its acquisition of Webroot this week in a deal valued around $618.5 million. The acquisition was first announced last month and, now that it’s complete, will allow Carbonite to differentiate itself in the market as a more holistic solution by combining both data backup and recovery services as well as endpoint security and threat intelligence. Founded in 1997, Webroot has long been a pillar in the local cybersecurity community. Its solutions encompass endpoint and network protection, threat intelligence and security awareness training services. [Read more.]

Sovrn expands European operations with new office in Germany

Boulder-based Sovrn, which develops software tools for online publishers and content creators, announced on Tuesday its move into the German publishing market with the opening of a new office in Hamburg. The new office will allow Sovrn to continue forging and strengthening relationships with German publishers, such as WetterOnline.de and Scout24. Regional Director Michael Zeisler will lead the company’s German operations, bringing with him more than 19 years of digital industry experience, including his most recent post as the Regional Director of Central Europe for PubMatic. Hamburg will become Sovrn’s sixth office, with its headquarters in Boulder and additional offices in San Francisco, Austin, New York and London. [Read more.]

WeWork gobbles up another 85K square feet in Denver real estate

WeWork has been growing at a break-neck pace in Denver  — and it isn’t done yet. This time, the company has leased 85,000 square feet in RiNo, gobbling up the entire building at 2323 Delgany St., known as Junction 23 at the Denargo Market. The coworking giant is now the single largest private office tenant in Denver — beating out DaVita — with nearly 700,000 square feet of office space scattered throughout the city. The new RiNo office is slated to open in the fourth quarter of this year with 2,000 desks. WeWork also plans to open coworking spaces at the Financial House in Cherry Creek, at The Hub in RiNo and at two other locations downtown before the end of the year. [Read more.]
