5 Colorado startups where you can volunteer your time on the company dime

In a world where people are eager to give back, time off for volunteering is becoming a stand-out perk for the charitable jobseeker. We’re now seeing more and more companies go beyond simply writing a check — and they’re getting employees involved, too. See which Colorado tech companies give their employees time off to volunteer in the local community.

What they do: iTriage created a mobile and web-based healthtech application that helps people track and manage their healthcare.

Volunteer perks: One paid volunteer day per quarter. Past activities have included charitable hackathons and Habit for Humanity builds.

Other perks: 401(k) match, company-provided EcoPass, onsite gym, free lunch Fridays, tuition and certification reimbursement.

What they do: Hotel Engine supports the traveling workforce with its business-focused hotel booking platform.

Volunteer perks: Regular company-sponsored volunteer opportunities.

Other perks: Paid gym membership, organic fruit delivery, free parking, three weeks paid time off.

What they do: AppliedTrust delivers IT infrastructure, security and compliance services to organizations in a range of industries, including education, healthcare, technology and finance.

Volunteer perks: A paid volunteer day off each year, in addition to other charitable work supported by the company. In the past, AppliedTrust has also offered employer matching for charitable donations to fundraisers like Colorado Gives Day.

Other perks: Technical training and certification opportunities, annual ski pass or lift ticket allowance, 401(k) match, monthly smart phone allowance.

What they do: Inflow handles digital marketing for e-commerce businesses, with a focus on SEO, PPC and inbound strategy.

Volunteer perks: At least one paid day off to volunteer in the community each year.

Other perks: Uptown location, paid vacation and personal days, stocked fridge, comprehensive health and life insurance policies.

What they do: Tendril applies behavioral science and technology to the energy sector, delivering a personalized consumer experience that helps people manage their energy efficiency and goals.

Volunteer perks: The Tendril team participates in group volunteer activities throughout the year. They’ve participated in events like the Xcel Energy Day of Service and the B the Change Earth Day “B of Service” event.

Other perks: Unlimited paid time off, stock options, 401(k) match, paid parental leave, collaborative office space.
