UC Client Project Manager-Allstream
Allstream is hiring a Client Project Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Manager – Unified Communication will manage projects at all levels within the organization. This position manages the detailed planning, organizing, and implementation of large organizational and technical projects involving multiple departments and locations across Allstream. The Project Manager’s decisions and actions play a strategic role toward the realization of corporate financial, operational, and marketing objectives, and corporate strategies. The projects being managed will impact financial goals of the company and capital plans. The Project Manager’s responsibility is to manage projects to completion on time, within budget, and scope to maximize the project’s potential of meeting or exceeding quality standards that deliver consistently superior services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Estabishes the project team, defines project objective, defines project scope through detailed planning, and team responsibilities.
- Identifies project dependencies, assesses potential project risks, develops risk management plan, and develops the project schedule.
- Establishes and maintains clear communication with the project team, including vendors, contractors and customers.
- Provide a clear plan for implementation that optimizes resource utilization, time required for completion and assures internal clients operations needs are being met.
- Coordinate team members’ efforts.
- Ensures projects remain on schedule and within budget, and team members are focused on the most critical aspects of project completion.
- Report on the progress of projects in terms scope, budget, and schedule.
- Manage and complete multiple projects at the same time with different commencement and completion dates and requiring multiple departments and stakeholders through the initiation, planning, implementation, controlling, and closure phases of each project.
- Conduct and lead project management meetings, including the assignment of tasks, obtaining status, tracking action items, and escalating issues related to the identified risk of a project.
- Conduct and/or coordinate on-site end-user training which may require travel.
- Conduct and/or coordinate remote end-user training via webinar.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
The position reports to the Manager, Project Management and will have no direct reporting responsibilities for supervision. The position will require extensive collaborative communications skills and will require contact at all levels throughout the company. The major responsibilities of this position will include keeping projects on time, and delivering the projects goals as stated. Also managing projects to the expectations of senior management and reporting status of projects in a useful and informative way.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or comparable experience)
- 2 + years of direct experience in a disciplined project management environment.
- Must have the ability to function in a matrix environment where resources are not owned but secured from outside teams.
- Demonstrated Understanding and Experience with Project Management Principles.
- Develop Project Plans.
- Develop Risk Plans.
- Ability to manage multi-functional teams and disciplines.
- Strong communications in written, verbal, inter-personal, facilitation forms.
- Computer literacy, in word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems.

Requires constant keyboarding, sitting, hearing and talking, occasional standing and walking, and infrequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, kneeling, walking on uneven surfaces, squeezing and crouching. Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of from 1-20 pounds. Close detail work requiring visual acuity. Must be able to perform primarily sedentary work.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge in telephony, transport, service, or related technical industry.
- Knowledge of telephony equipment (PBX, switches, etc.)
