The Senior Payroll Analyst, an exempt position, is a remote role and reports to the Sr. Payroll Manager. As a key member of the Corporate Payroll Operations team, the Senior Payroll Analyst will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment building relationships within the corporate accounting and HR teams within the U.S., and with the larger organization (e.g. Treasury, Legal, GL, Internal Audit, etc.). 

 

  • You will be focused on accurate processing of the US and Canada Payroll through Workday.

 

  • You will perform complex administrative and accounting tasks necessary to prepare payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees in a multi-state environment and Canada while ensuring compliance with company policy, federal, state regulation, and SOX requirements.

 

  • You will partner and work with internal groups like HR, Benefits, Stock, and Tax teams and external payroll vendors. 

 

  • You will use Workday system to prepare and process multi-state payroll and special payment, including Stock transaction runs for 1000+ employees US (exempt and non-exempt employees) 

 

Main Areas of Responsibility 

• Ensure accurate, compliant and timely payroll processing for US domestic and Canadian locations. • Providing excellent payroll support to 3000+ employees and cross-functional teams by addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests. 

• Partner with third party payroll providers to provide strategic direction on business needs and issues related to payroll. 

• Assist working with third party payroll providers to ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax filings are met. Ensure all local statutory payroll and fringe benefit reporting requirements are met. 

• Facilitate and perform regular payroll audits and assist preparing supporting schedules for external auditors. 

• Perform and review assigned monthly payroll close duties, including the preparation/review of period-end accruals and monthly journal entries for all payroll and benefits, preparation/review of reconciliations of assigned payroll accounts and assist with preparation of month-end flux analysis for all payroll accounts. 

• Record transactions in dedicated payroll bank account (payroll, benefits expense, FSA/HSA/Commuter transactions, 401K, stock exercises). 

• Process Stock based compensation transactions (ESPP Disqualified Dispositions , RSUs, Non Quals and ISO's). 

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and international tax and wage & hour laws, regulations or guidelines, including payroll tax registrations. 

• Special projects, including process documentation and improvements, system updates, integrations, upgrades or implementations. 

• Follow and maintain internal control policies, procedures and compliance with respect to the payroll process 

• Recognizing opportunities and recommending scalable processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency while maintaining accuracy.

 

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting or other related fields. 

• Minimum 8+ years' experience with U.S. payroll in a multi-state environment and minimum 1000 employee base including solid knowledge of payroll principles, rules and regulations and with demonstrated strong payroll technical skills in a variety of areas including, payroll processing, reporting, payroll taxes, account reconciliations, etc.• You will have comprehensive hands-on knowledge of Workday. 

• Minimum 3+ years Canadian Payroll

• Strength in using Excel including formulas and functions (Vlookups and Pivot tables) 

• Ability to effectively analyze large amounts of data and present key findings to management. 

• Experienced with implementation of payroll systems/timekeeping, time & attendance systems and HRIS systems 

• A self-starter with the ability to work independently, but also flexible working with a team yet can complete tasks under limited supervision. 

• Effective problem solver with strong analytical skills 

• Experience preparing and filing US Multi-state registration and local accounts with agencies

• Ability to prioritize and to work to very tight deadlines • Ability to function in a highly confidential environment • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams, including legal, HR, tax, accounting and finance
