About the team/role:

The Employee Relations Business Partner will partner hands-on and strategically with critical cross-functional partners, people managers, and employees through performance management and workplace conflict issues to cultivate an innovative, high-performing, and inclusive culture.  

This role will partner with managers and leaders when performance concerns arise, advise on next steps, and review documentation to ensure it is complete and effective. Participate in performance coaching conversations as needed and exit meetings. Investigate employee complaints and make findings. Conduct termination interviews and compile insights that will help inform proactive solutions. Ensure legal requirements are met in the handling of employee relations matters to ensure compliance and minimal exposure to liability.

Additionally, this role will assist in the design and at times administer, proactive programs and policies related to employee relations activities. Provide guidance, counseling, and training to managers and employees for policy interpretation and sensitive work-related issues. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

What you'll do:

  • Provide performance management and employee relations support, business partnership, thought partnership, and coaching to all levels of the organization including coaching leaders on recommended next steps, review documentation, provide feedback on performance improvement plans and written warnings.
  • Triage performance and employee relations casework and identify potential solutions to address different case types and actions appropriately using guidelines
  • Proactively assess team and manager development needs relative to performance management, make recommendations, and partner with L&D to implement appropriate solutions
  • Provide rigorous data analysis and reporting solutions based on business needs, highlighting key trends in employee relations to actively drive proactive solutions to minimize reactive work
  • Design and deliver targeted solutions with a high degree of focus on scale and growth, including conflict resolution and mediation, strategic planning on people policies and processes, and change management
  • Help balance risk, taking into account employee, business, and company perspectives
  • Help design and facilitate manager training based on trends
  • Integrate and partner with cross-functional partners on the People Business Partner, Legal, Learning & Development, and People Programs teams to implement solutions and help scale
  • Build collaborative and productive working relationships
  • Lead with integrity, respect, high personal standards and build personal credibility
  • Sort through ambiguity

What you bring:

  • Great communication skills, both in speaking and writing, is crucial. Adaptability in how you communicate depends on the leader you're working with; being clear, succinct, and respectful is also essential.
  • Ability to recognize cross-functional (outside of assigned client base) issues and proactively work to resolve them.
  • You operate humbly and drive initiatives with the overall betterment of the team and company in mind.
  • Great relationship builder not only with clients but also with key stakeholders in the people organization and cross-functional teams.
  • Deep employee relations experience
  • Key skills and abilities include leadership coaching, conflict resolution, influencing, facilitation, presentation, process development, analysis, and problem-solving. 
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding employment policies and practices
  • Experience in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment is required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team, and maintain confidential and highly sensitive information 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines required
  • Proficiency in Google Apps (e.g., sheets, slides, and docs)

The base salary range for this role is $119,068 to $161,092 in Denver, CO.
