Responsibilities include Python and Java development, REST APIs, AWS integration, Docker containerization, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, database management, scientific data integration, production transitions, troubleshooting, and Tier 3 on-call support in a high-availability operational environment.

Own the architecture, scalability, reliability, and roadmap of a cloud-native geospatial platform. Lead data product pipelines, serving and tiling layers, AWS infrastructure, engineering standards, and cross-team integration. Translate scientific outputs into discoverable, reproducible, versioned products for applications, APIs, partners, and the public. Provide technical direction and mentorship to geospatial developers while coordinating across science, applications, and engineering teams.

Develop Python software and scalable cloud-native pipelines for large geospatial datasets, including terrain, hydrography, and imagery. Build STAC catalogs, cloud-optimized formats, distributed processing workflows, and data services. Create hydrologic and environmental map layers and regularly updated scientific products, applying remote sensing and machine learning where appropriate. Collaborate with platform, science, modeling, and applications teams.

Build and maintain responsive, accessible front-end interfaces within Drupal 10 for operational and experimental space weather websites. Develop reusable components, integrate dashboards and scientific data visualizations, collaborate with backend developers, and optimize interfaces across browsers, devices, and viewports. The role requires strong UI/UX engineering, modern web technologies, Drupal theming, accessibility compliance, and experience translating complex scientific data into intuitive user experiences.

Designs and builds REST/JSON APIs that ingest structured data and deliver versioned, schema-conformant outputs such as JSON and PDF. Maintains schemas, data contracts, API versioning, validation, documentation, and testing. Supports CLI tooling, secure deployment, dependency management, and CI/CD. Collaborates with Science and Platform teams on data interfaces and logic, with opportunities to work on environmental, geospatial, scientific, and cloud-based systems.

Advance and validate ionosphere and thermosphere models for NOAA space weather forecasting. Lead research-to-operations transitions, coordinate model development across scientists and agencies, assess scientific priorities, and communicate results through publications and presentations. The role requires expertise in physics-based modeling, scientific programming, satellite and ground-based data validation, and coordination of a multidisciplinary modeling team.

Acquire, process, clean, and manage digital elevation models and hydrography datasets. Build reproducible geospatial pipelines, maintain large raster and vector data storage, perform QA/QC and numerical validation, and contribute to Rust-based processing tools and unit tests. The role also documents methods and collaborates with science, modeling, and platform teams on terrain and hydrologic products.

Develop, maintain, and test scientific software for space weather modeling, data analysis, forecasting workflows, and testbed experiments. Responsibilities include processing observational data, containerizing applications, integrating models and data sources, performing quality control, creating visualization tools, and collaborating with scientists, engineers, and forecasters. The role also requires software documentation, technical communication, and support for research-to-operations activities.

Leads large-scale wetland mapping and modeling across regional to national extents. Develops cloud-native geospatial workflows, integrates elevation, hydrology, imagery, soils, and inventory data, and validates map accuracy and uncertainty. Provides technical leadership, documents methods, supports proposals and reports, and collaborates with modeling, platform, and applications teams.

Provides federal budget formulation, forecasting, cost analysis, compliance review, financial monitoring, procurement and grant administration, contract deliverable tracking, and center operational support. Responsibilities also include event logistics, travel compliance, property and records management, timekeeping assistance, CAC documentation, reporting, and office procedure development. Requires strong attention to detail, financial analysis skills, knowledge of budgeting regulations, and experience tracking organizational spending and budget variances.

Develop and modernize full-stack web applications for the Space Weather Prediction Center. Responsibilities include designing responsive interfaces, building front-end and back-end systems, developing APIs and ETL pipelines, managing databases and Docker deployments, integrating AI/ML features, and implementing automated testing. The role also leads developers, manages projects, engages clients, translates requirements using Agile/Scrum, and supports scientific data visualization and product demonstrations.

Coordinates onboarding and offboarding for personnel, including facility, IT, and vessel access. Manages eQIP, SF-85, fingerprinting, background investigation, CAC/PIV, and credentialing documentation. Prepares personnel forms, recruitment packages, and contract files; enters data into NOAA administrative systems; and develops, reviews, and maintains SOPs, process workflows, instructional manuals, and technical documentation.

Supports the National Oceanographic Partnership Program through inter-agency coordination with NOAA and the Navy’s Office of Naval Research. Responsibilities include managing inter-agency agreement drafts, planning work group meetings, coordinating funding transfers and annual spend plans, developing annual reports, conducting outreach, briefing leadership, and identifying funding opportunities with NOAA science programs and laboratories. The position may be remote or on-site and requires travel for meetings, workshops, and field activities.

Processes, reviews, qualifies, and quality-assures hydrographic, topographic, and bathymetric data in GIS environments. Maintains national bathymetry models, supports deconfliction and product development, improves documentation and data management, and creates or optimizes automated workflows involving hydrography, physics, and geodesy. Requires experience with geospatial data analysis, GIS software, Python programming, database management, mapping standards, and ocean and coastal data products.

Coordinates ocean-related science and technology projects, grants, funding announcements, mission planning, budgets, agreements, task orders, and partnership reporting. Works with NOAA laboratories, universities, cooperative institutes, and marine environmental organizations to plan projects, define operational requirements, allocate resources, and monitor execution. Supports PMEL partnership activities, including work plans, reporting, and agreement coordination. Position may be remote or on-site and requires travel for meetings, workshops, and field activities.
