Leads and scales Ballotpedia’s remote Operations Department, overseeing HR, talent management, finance, budgeting, payroll, compliance, legal risk, administration, and team development. The role develops financial models and reports, manages organizational systems, supports regulatory compliance, coordinates legal matters, and partners with leadership to improve operational effectiveness and financial health.

Researches and writes neutral, accessible content about U.S. public policy, court cases, legislation, executive orders, and reform proposals. Tracks policy developments and news across all 50 states, curates arguments and sources, edits and proofreads articles, and develops newsletters, webinars, presentations, and educational outreach materials. The role also uses spreadsheets and databases, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, responds to feedback, and travels to related events as needed.

Leads paid and internal policy research projects from scoping through delivery, managing timelines, contractors, cross-functional contributors, quality, and client expectations. Develops prospective client pipelines through research, outreach, business development, and Salesforce tracking. Builds client relationships, scopes engagements, translates complex findings into deliverables, and supports revenue generation and organizational priorities.
