At last, we’ve released a desktop application for younity and our company’s vision is officially coming to fruition. While there are still plenty of developments to come, this first version of our desktop app provides an exciting new arena for younity to explore. With desktop-to-desktop and desktop-to-mobile connections, we’re working tirelessly to change the remote access, media server game.

Previously, younity only offered a desktop-to-mobile connection with a single mobile interface. Our mobile app uniquely solved remote access problems that cloud storage services and external hard drives clumsily addressed. However, the true vision of younity has always been to unify all of your content across all of your devices. With our new desktop application, that vision is quickly becoming a reality.
As consumers begin to own more and more internet connected devices, their content becomes scattered and lost amongst them. According to Cisco, there are 7.3 devices per person in the US, with a projected increase to 12.3 in 2020. Up until now, the solutions for unifying these devices have been sparse, inconsistent, clunky, and inconvenient. With younity’s desktop app, we endeavored to solve this problem without any need for configuration, syncing, management, or uploading to the cloud. We take the average 1.3 terabytes of content each person has and unify it within a single application.
The younity desktop app is a multipurpose file browser, media manager, media server, and device unification tool. It connects, organizes, distributes, and presents the files across all of your devices in a smart, clean, and enjoyable fashion. It’s offers a Netflix-like interface for movies, a Spotify-like interface for music, and a beautifully arranged place to view your photos and documents. It allows you to merge media libraries like Apple Photos and iTunes under a single application. And it does all of this without any need for manual setup or configuration. As soon as you install it, younity gets to work collecting and organizing your content.
Our mission has always been to allow people to move spontaneously and effortlessly from device to device, without having to worry about where their files are located. We want people to focus on their content, rather than fret over the device that it’s stored on. With younity’s new desktop application, we are one step closer to completing that mission. Although, don’t be mistaken. There are plenty more major updates on our roadmap and we won’t stop working until younity is as perfect of a device unification solution as possible. Until then, we hope you try out our new desktop app and let us know what you think.
