Denver-based defense tech company Voyager is enhancing its platform with the acquisition of Estes Energetics. The deal will expand Voyager’s reach into the energetics and propulsion markets as the company works to close gaps in the domestic industrial base.

Estes Energetics manufactures energetics, propulsion materials and chemical compounds, such as rocket motors and black powder, to support missile defense and tactical munitions. The U.S.-based company works to strengthen domestic production and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.

The deal grants Voyager complete control over the production, quality and certification of energetics materials. Able to provide full vertical integration from raw materials to ballistic release, Voyager plans to proactively address vulnerabilities along the supply chain.

“This significantly strengthens the position of our propulsion capabilities from ground to orbit,” Dylan Taylor, Voyager’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “As global supply chains become increasingly fragile, these capabilities must be built, qualified and safeguarded here at home, with transparent certification, rigorous safety oversight and the surge capacity to meet urgent operational needs.”
