SparkCognition raises $32.5M Series B
On Monday, SparkCognition announced it has closed a $32.5 million Series B round of financing, marking the largest funding round for 2017. Verizon Ventures led the round with key participation from The Boeing Company, through its Boeing HorizonX unit. Launched in 2012, SparkCognition creates machine learning algorithms that can detect cyber threats, predict machine failure and process big data. Red Herring named Turnkey Vacation Rentals a 2017 Red Herring Top 100 North America winner for its innovation and technologies. The Austin startup, launched in 2012, is the third largest national vacation rental management company and supports properties across 40 markets. [Press Release]
HomeAway announces plans for new massive office at Domain
HomeAway announced on Friday its plans to occupy a 16-story office tower at The Domain, beginning the first quarter of 2019. The 315,000 square feet space will accommodate over 2,000 additional employees as it continues to expand. [Press Release]
Aceable expands to PA
Aceable’s Driver’s Ed platform is now available in Pennsylvania as of Wednesday. Continuum Analytics names new CFO
Aaron Barfoot officially joined the Continuum Analytics team this week as the company’s new CFO. Barfoot previously worked in executive roles at ClearDATA and Rackspace. Continuum Analytics created an open data science platform called Anaconda, which runs off Python. Since its launch in 2012, the platform has accrued over 25 million downloads and has about four million active users. [Press Release]
Mood Media acquired
Mood Media, the Austin-based customer experience company using sight, sound, scent, social mobile technology, has been acquired by key stakeholders. The organizations involved in the acquisition include affiliates of Apollo Global Management LLC and GSO Capital Partners LP. Mood Media will remain headquartered in Austin, with no changes currently contemplated to where they operate in other locations around the globe. [Press Release]
