Forbes 30 under 30 released, 4 Austin tech founders recognized

Forbes released their 2017 30 under 30 annual list, recognizing entrepreneurs under the age of 30 that have disrupted their respective industries, from food to arts, tech to sports and more. Four local founders made the list: Adam Lyons and Joshua Dziabiak, co-founders of The Zebra, and Whitney Wolfe, founder of Bumble, appeared under the Consumer Tech category, and Alex Schwartz, CEO of Owlchemy Labs, was selected for the gaming category. Tenfold collects over $1M in new funding, adds new partnership

Over the last few days in December, Tenfold closed two rounds of funding totaling $1.76 million. Their calling software helps sales teams manage pipelines faster and more accurately, with click-to-dial calling abilities, in-call note recording and other on-screen management tools. On Jan. 4, Tenfold also announced a new partnership with Intelestream, a firm out of Chicago that offers consulting and product development for CRM solutions. [Formds; Press Release]

 

Asure Software acquires HR management platform

Asure Software, the Austin-based solutions provider that helps companies run more efficiently internally, announced the acquisition of Personnel Management Systems, Inc. (PMSI). Details of Monday’s acquisition were not disclosed. Asure can now add HR consulting expertise to its suite of offerings thanks to the partnership. [Press Release]

 

Austin AI startup names new CEO

WayBlazer, an AI startup that makes travel recommendations based on consumer data points, named Noreen Henry as their new CEO. Founded in 2014, the 24-person Austin startup uses the framework behind IBM’s Watson system to produce intel. Henry joins the team with over 25 years of technology experience and comes most recently from a Dallas-based hotel data company. [Austin Business Journal]

 

Epicor acquires document management software company

On Tuesday, Epicor Software announced the acquisition of Schenectady-based docSTAR to expand its portfolio of enterprise cloud-based systems. The acquisition merges docSTAR’s cloud-based enterprise content management and automated accounts payable solutions with Epicor’s enterprise resource planning solution. docSTAR’s former president and CEO, Tom Franceski, will join the Epicor team as general manager, leading the document management business side.
