This week’s Built In Brews is officially going to be the largest ever. With almost a thousand people signed up to participate, the tech happy hour has officially become a tech block party.
Yup, Built In Brews has become so large that sections of Platte Street have to be blocked off to provide extra room for people to mingle and for food trucks to gather safely.
The event, which will be closing out the Startup Crawl, is being hosted by Galvanize and Pivotal — two companies that, like Denver Startup Week (DSW), have seen remarkable growth and change in the last couple of years.
Participants will have an opportunity to mingle with the people who work there, check out their offices, and, apparently, meet about a thousand other area techies. In addition to the food trucks, our friends at the Denver Beer Company will be on-hand to make sure this turns out as a startup block party to remember.
If you’re unfamiliar with Built in Brews, it is kind of like a combined quarterly networking event for the startup community and keg party — only this time, on steroids. There's always good food and booze on hand, and you’re very likely to have your week’s most memorable conversation there.
Given the size of this year’s DSW, it should come as no surprise that this is the largest Built In Brews to date. In 2012, when DSW launched, it was made up of just 70 events put on by 500 companies and had around 3,500 people attending. Fast forward just three years and it has become the largest entrepreneurial event in the country. This week there will be 215 events hosted by over a thousand companies. While attendance numbers aren’t in yet, it’s sure to be significantly higher than last year’s 7,800.
So, long story short, come on out tomorrow night to celebrate the hard work and perseverance that has made Denver the home of such an amazing startup community — and be sure and drink a couple of beers while you’re at it.
