The Denver Startup Week Crawl is back by popular demand for its 5th year. This year, and this is with a full week before the event gets going, there are over 700 people signed up to attend — so to say it is popular is an understatement.
Of course, its popularity is not without warrant. The event is kind of like a pub crawl, only instead of hitting up a series of dingy bars, participants will be crawling through downtown to visit 15 quintessentially Denver startups. Each one will be throwing open their doors to let you peak behind the scenes.
The schedule will look something like this:
Of course, this is a crawl, and each company will be offering drinks and snacks, as well as other swag along the way. We caught up with some of the participants to see what they had in store for us. Here’s what they had to say:
What are you serving for the crawl? Kegs of beer from Ratio Beerworks and snacks.
What's the coolest thing about your space? It's not haunted and has great natural light.
What Startup Week event are you looking forward to? The App Strategy Workshop & Happy Hour.
If you could invite any celebrity to join you on the crawl, who would it be? Why? Geoffrey Zakarian - because he's a boss.
What else should crawlers get ready for at your stop? A special surprise.
What are you serving for the crawl? We will be serving beer, chips, salsa, taquitos and quesadillas.
What's the coolest thing about your space? Our office space is in the heart of downtown, right next to Union Station.
What Startup Week event are you looking forward to? We're looking forward to the ‘Building a Single Page App for Fun & Profit’ panel, which is being presented by two Ibotta employees. The crawl is a close second!
If you could invite any celebrity to join you on the crawl, who would it be? Why? We would invite Benedict Cumberbatch because he's amazing, and who wouldn't want to spend an afternoon with him? The cast of Silicon Valley is a close second though...
What are you serving for the crawl? We have some real drink "snobs" over here, so you better believe we'll have all the best Colorado craft beer, red and white wine, and some legit whiskey! For food, we'll be serving up delicious hors d'oeuvres like artichoke dip and baked artisan breads, fresh vegetables, bison sliders, tortellini skewers and a gourmet cheese platter.
What's the coolest thing about your space? Our office space is a completely open floor plan, with exposed brick and piping to really maintain the age and character of the building. We have an incredible rooftop deck that comfortably hosts 50 or so guests, and we share our space with two other small tech startup companies who take up the first floor. They are SUPER awesome.
What Startup Week event are you looking forward to? We're looking forward to hosting a stop on the Crawl, of course! But secondly, we're really looking forward to the Job Fair to not only see what kind of incredible talent is out there, but to also get a chance to know some of the other great tech companies that are hiring.
If you could invite any celebrity to join you on the crawl, who would it be? Why? Vin Diesel! Because we'd love to see him tear up our remote control car race course and see if he's as good as he is in the movies.
What else should crawlers get ready for at your stop? Along with delicious food and beverages on our rooftop patio, we'll have a remote control car race to see who can get through the course and park their car the fastest. Hoodies & shirts will be given to winners!
What are you serving for the crawl? Beer, beer and more beer from a local brewery poured from the spout of our built-in kegerator!
What's the coolest thing about your space? We just moved in! It is a brand new, dog friendly space that showcases our product and the teams that build it. Our design team held onto the nostalgia of the historic brick building while adding modern new architectural features like built-in stadium seating where we host Broncos viewing parties and Wayin talent shows.
What Startup Week event are you looking forward to? On Sept. 28th our very own VP of Business Operations is going to participate on a panel called ‘Startup Cribs!’ Be sure to check it out.
If you could invite any celebrity to join you on the crawl, who would it be? Why? We would invite Miles, the official mascot of the Denver Broncos (and unofficial mascot of "Awesome"). He is a social media superstar, a great tour guide, and can get the party started!
What else should crawlers get ready for at your stop? Wayin is on the road to growth and we are hiring for multiple positions. Crawlers can come by and get an inside look at what it's like to work in an exciting industry in the heart of Downtown Denver!

What are you serving for the crawl? Cold beer, most likely from our friends at Avery.
What's the coolest thing about your space? We have a beautiful courtyard with a fountain, set right off of Wazee Street. It feels like you are in another world, despite being in the heart of LoDo.
What Startup Week event are you looking forward to? We’re most looking forward to HomeAdvisor’s session, “How to Dig Into Data to Create Happier Customer Experiences.” HomeAdvisor is a close partner, and their ability to combine data and empathy to produce a world-class customer support team is inspirational.
If you could invite any celebrity to join you on the crawl, who would it be? Why? We would have to invite Colorado’s newest celebrity, Isaac Caldiero, who recently won American Ninja Warrior. Any startup should look at the world ahead of them as a challenge that can be overcome, and his insights would no doubt be relevant and motivational.
What else should crawlers get ready for at your stop? We’ll have an interactive element featuring CommercialTribe’s video software. Be ready with your top entrepreneurial memory!
