Caliola Engineering, a Colorado Springs-based tech company serving the defense sector, is looking to fortify its leadership team across four new roles as it enters its next phase of growth. Currently a 70-person company, Caliola helps advance critical communications with solutions for encryption, communications planning, satellite communications and mesh networks.

“Over the past five years, we have transitioned from scrappy, bootstrapped start up, to a successful and sustainable defense small business,” Tom Halford, chief scientist at Caliola, wrote Built In. “We are now putting in place the leadership team for the next phase of growth. We aim to be the next mid-tier defense business in Colorado Springs.”

The company is actively seeking out a chief operating officer, vice president of engineering, director of product and director of IT, facilities and security. The COO will manage Caliola’s day-to-day and week-to-week operations; the VP of engineering will oversee the team leaders of Caliola’s engineering and program management departments; and the director of IT, facilities and security will be tasked with upholding Caliola’s physical, virtual and security infrastructure.

Caliola recently opened a 16,500-square-foot facility in its headquarters city, which is where the above three roles will be based. The director of product, who will develop and execute the go-to market strategy for expendable and affordable communications and electronic attack payloads, can be based in the Front Range of Colorado or near one of Caliola’s key customer sites, such as Tampa, San Diego or the National Capital Region.

This hiring initiative comes at a critical time for the company, which recorded 40 percent year-on-year growth in 2025. Caliola expects to achieve future year-on-year growth ranging from 20 to 30 percent, so the members of its founding team will divide multiple responsibilities to new team members to ensure the company grows sustainably.
