What if you could have a liquor store in your pocket at all times? You could have access to all the beer, wine, and spirits your heart desired whenever and wherever you wanted. Well, apparently you’re not the only one who would like that, and Minibar Delivery, an on-demand liquor delivery service, is here to make it possible.
This summer people in Denver will be able to shop for wine, beer, and spirits on their computers, as well as their iPhone or Android device. Thirty minutes to an hour later your booze will be at your door. Just like a real liquor store, Minibar offers tasting notes, cocktail recipes and pairing recommendations. The platform also has a 'party planning tool' to help you figure out how much of each type of drink you should have on hand for your party.
Of course, people in Boulder, Denver and Vail have had access to Drizly, a similar service, for almost a year now.
As part of Minibar's expansion to Denver, San Diego, and Minneapolis, the company partnered with Absolut Vodka. Through the app, customers exclusively in those cities will be able to buy something called 'Absolut Oak'- a mixture of regular vodka, barrel rested vodka, and vodka rested on oak.
Because Minibar is delivering alcohol, you'll have to jump through some hoops before anything shows up at your door. Before you order you must confirm you are over 21, and then be able to back that up with an ID when your delivery arrives. If you don't you'll be charged a $20 restocking fee.
Speaking of fees, the service is free for the first month but normally runs $5 per delivery -- so buy in bulk.
