Colorado Tech Tour, July 20 - July 24 at various times

Some of Colorado’s Denver and Boulder based tech big-wigs are taking a tour of the state to meet up with tech folk. The idea is to bring state and nonprofit resources to communities geographically cut off (at least practically) from the capital. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, I’ll be attending the happy hour in Frisco Wednesday -- so come say hi.

Official Launch of Denver’s “Internet of Things” Community: TechrIoT, July 22 at 5 p.m.

Like it or fear it, the IoT is here and it’s not going anywhere -- so why not embrace it? TechrIot, which is pronounced ‘tech riot,’ is aiming to be the networking event for the IoT industry in Colorado. You’ll get a chance to network with the local power-players in the IoT industry and see a new community be born. Plus, maybe in the future, when our connected things take over, they’ll take pity on you.

Happy Hour Headshots, July 23 at 3 p.m.

Having a professional headshot can be a big boon to an online profile, even if you don’t want to work in Hollywood. Have a couple drinks, mingle and get a professional to make you look successful on your LinkedIn profile photo. At $42 the event isn’t cheap, but can you put a price on a professional image? Besides, who can turn down a happy hour at 3 p.m. on a Thursday?

DOSUG BBQ Picnic, July 25 at 11 a.m.

Denver Open Source Users Group (DOSUG) is hosting their annual BBQ at Clement Park in Littleton. There’s a playground for the little ones, as well as hot dogs, brats and ribs. It’s kind of like a potluck, so come up with something you can bring (creamed corn?). The event is BYOB, but make sure whatever you bring is not in glass.

Food Biz Road Trip - Workshop and Happy Hour, July 24 at 2 p.m.

This is a workshop and subsequent happy hour for people who have businesses related to food. You’ll learn about funding, selling, saving and other necessities of the biz. The event is geared for anyone, “whether you’re making jam at home for your local farmers' market, or managing an online gluten-free flour business.”

Have an amazing week Colorado and make sure to check out our events calendar for all the other tech events happening around town.
