Space companies have flocked to Colorado. With no shortage of innovators looking to explore the cosmos, the state welcomed one more last week while another local space company pulled in funding. Biofire emerged from stealth. The company launched its first product, a 9mm firearm that leverages fingerprints and facial recognition. Designed for home defense, the biometric device is supposed to only enable the authorized owner to fire it. Orbit Fab secured $28.5M. Series A funding from lead investor 8090 Industries will allow Lafayette-based Orbit Fab to fuel sales. The money will also help the company deliver fuel and storage infrastructure to its existing satellite orbits. Nooks announced plans to expand into Colorado Springs. Defense tech company Nooks develops national security solutions for classified facilities and networks. The company will open its third and largest facility to date in Colorado Springs and provide jobs with an average annual salary of $165,942.86. Nooks plans to create 35 new positions. Codiga was acquired by Datadog. NYC Observability company Datadog announced its acquisition of Colorado-based Codiga, a company that produced a static code analyzer to help developers improve their code. As Datadog works to integrate Codiga’s tech, the company ultimately hopes to expand its features into code analysis and help developers produce and maintain high-quality software more efficiently. True Anomaly will open a new office. Operating in the space security sector, True Anomaly develops training and simulation tools for spacecraft manufacturing infrastructure and similar solutions. The company plans to open a new 35,000-square-foot office in Centennial and hire about 60 new employees over the next year.
