In Colorado, the falling autumn leaves mark the start of the tech industry’s slow period. As the holiday season approaches and employees make winter plans, there’s a noticeably relaxed pulse to the usually buzzing atmosphere at tech companies — whether on Slack or in offices.

Some are retiring to the idyllic mountain hot springs and world-famous ski resorts that the state offers as prime year-end destinations. Others are taking to the sky for farther journeys to enjoy well-earned family time and vacation.

However, three of Colorado’s top tech startups are intent on ending the year with momentum.

Read on for a closer look at what they’ve been working on — and how they’re closing out the year with an eye towards the next milestone.

What Nylas does: Nylas is an API platform that enables developers and businesses to build features focused on customer communications to drive engagement and retention. The company’s product suite leverages communications data to boost productivity for its users.

THE PERKS

  • Unlimited vacation time, with a requirement of 2 consecutive weeks off annually
  • 12 weeks of fully paid maternity and paternity leave
  • $1,000 yearly stipend for continuous learning and skill development
  • Supportive ERGs such as Women’s Planning and Gender Marginalized
  • Fully remote with a home stipend for employees

Growing ambitions: In conjunction with its new brand and logo, Nylas’ mission statement has been retooled to focus on international expansion. The fully remote company, which earned a spot on the 2022 Forbes America Best Startup Employers list, believes in the universal appeal of its platform and its vision to help companies and developers around the world streamline the customer experience. With that goal comes the need for a bigger team, and Nylas’ headcount has since grown to include team members in the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Ireland.

What Gloo does: Gloo is a SaaS platform that operates as a digital marketplace for the church ecosystem. To bring the church experience into the digital era, the company offers multiple online platforms tailored to the needs of the institution, from directory and outreach to data insights and assessments.

  • Comprehensive health benefits with HSA option

Adapting remotely: In 2021, Gloo shifted to a remote work model, citing a productive 2020 adapting to the pandemic. With a robust employee assistance program — along with an office retrofitted to foster team culture and community — the company has since transitioned successfully to a hybrid workplace, giving employees both flexibility and a gathering space for social camaraderie.

What Signpost does: Signpost helps small businesses that sell home services grow their client base and establish better customer connections. The company’s platform manages SMS communications, marketing campaigns, answering service and more for local businesses so they can better serve their customers.

THE PERKS

  • Equity to all new employees
  • Hands-on training programs and customized development tracks
  • Funding for office parties and employee appreciation events
  • Hybrid workplace with commuter benefits
  • Comprehensive benefits package — health, vision, dental and wellness programs

Constant improvements: In order to help local businesses, Signpost’s product and engineering teams are constantly innovating the company’s core offering. Recently, as spotlighted by Signpost CEO George Bilbrey, it has made improvements to the platform’s message hub, and has introduced new channel integrations like Google Business Profile and Thumbtack. “Since 78 percent of new business goes to the company that responds first, this will help our customers get those incoming leads secured,” Bilbrey said in a Linkedin post celebrating the win.
