Zayo, a Boulder-based broadband provider, announced Thursday that it closed on the acquisition of Education Networks of America (ENA), which provides managed network connectivity, communications and cybersecurity services to K-12 school districts that participate in the federally-funded E-Rate program.

The acquisition was first announced in March. Now that it has been finalized, the companies will be able to provide managed services and customer care to schools, libraries, community healthcare providers and other public sector customers.

Zayo already provides broadband services to schools in Texas, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Georgia, California and Arizona as part of its 134,000-mile network that connects thousands of buildings and data centers in North America and Europe.

Zayo’s other communications infrastructure solutions include dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, dedicated internet access and data center connectivity solutions.

Zayo did not disclose the cost of the acquisition, but said it was funded by the $750 million ESG term loan it announced last month.

“ENA’s mission, particularly serving K-12 and healthcare customers, will enable us to have a positive impact on communities while furthering our commitment to leading in environmental, social and governance initiatives,” Zayo President Andrés Irlando said in a statement. “Together, we look forward to driving digital transformation across the public sector while delivering an exceptional customer experience.”
