StarRez, a global market leader in student housing software and residential community management, announced Wednesday that it has received a “significant strategic growth investment” from Vista Equity Partners.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

StarRez employs about 160 people globally, and roughly 40 of those employees are based in Colorado.

StarRez’s platform is used to manage university housing, staff housing, boarding schools and conference accommodations. The company has more than 800 clients, including Harvard University, Stanford University and Vail Ski Resorts’ staff housing program.

StarRez was founded in Australia in 1992. The company has since expanded into the North American and European markets, with its U.S. operations based in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

“It’s been an amazing 30-year journey as a privately-held family business. When my father founded StarRez nearly 30 years ago, his vision was simple: solving problems and empowering residential communities with technology,” StarRez CEO Travis Knipe said in a statement. “As we enter this new phase of growth, we are proud to partner with Vista, who believes in our vision and has the experience, resources and expertise to help us continue to grow as the leader for thriving residential communities.”
