A Fort Collins-based tech defense company is expanding locally.

On Thursday, Numerica, a leader in missile, space and air defense, announced plans for a new facility in Fort Collins. The nearly 33,000-square-foot facility will support the company’s short-range air defense radar systems and optical space surveillance sensors when it opens in February.

Located at 4450 Denrose Court, the facility is currently home to the Edge Sports Center. Numerica, which is purchasing the building for an undisclosed amount, says the sale will close in September with renovations taking place thereafter.

“Expanding our capacity to deliver high-quality, state-of-the-art sensors for mission-critical applications is a very important part of our business,” Jeff Poore, president of Numerica, said in a statement. “With our headquarters in Fort Collins, it was a natural fit to search for space nearby that was large enough to accommodate and expanded sensor research and development lab, but also space to increase our sensor manufacturing operations.”

Founded in 1996, Numerica is a self-funded business with no outside investors. The company has an office in Colorado Springs and headquarters in Fort Collins.
