SonderMind, a Denver-based startup that aims to make mental-health services more accessible, announced on Monday that it just raised $27 million in Series B financing. The funding round was led by venture capital firm General Catalyst.

The company provides users with the ability to quickly find and access local in-network therapists based on their specialty, availability, location and more via its digital marketplace. It currently operates as an integrated network of behavioral health professionals in Colorado and is also growing its business in Arizona and Texas. With this new funding, the startup is hoping to bring its platform to even more users in additional states.

“This financing provides the fuel to support our growth objectives and advance our mission to make behavioral health more accessible, approachable and utilized by building a modern marketplace that holds great appeal to both clinician and patient,” Mark Frank, the company’s co-founder and CEO, said in a statement provided to Built In.

F-Prime Capital and existing investors Kickstart Feed Fund, Dioko Adventures and Jonathan Bush also participated in the round.

Increased need for mental-health assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic has also led to an increase in demand for SonderMind’s telehealth service, according to Frank. This funding will help the company meet that demand by specifically hiring for its product, engineering and customer support teams.

“We plan to continue to grow our company and our employee base with a mindful eye toward the current state of the economy,” Frank said.

SonderMind was founded in 2014 and has raised a total of $32.9 million in venture capital to date, according to Crunchbase.
