Today’s office spaces aren’t just designed for functionality. They’re designed to inspire, bring people together and even encourage play. This modern take on the office manifests itself in all sorts of unique and interesting ways, from epic mountain views to cafe-style collaborative spaces and custom game rooms.

We caught up with four Colorado tech companies to glimpse inside their offices and learn more about the features that make their spaces so special. Take a look.

What inspired the design of your office?

“Our HQ is located in San Jose and has that Silicon Valley vibe to it,” said Ashley Borlaug, global talent acquisitionist. “We really wanted to bring that inspiration to Denver but put our own Colorado twist on it. To do that we mixed pieces like reclaimed wood with fun, vibrant colors to create a more industrial, modern feel.”

What's the coolest or most unique feature?

“We have a great game room that is naturally lit with large windows. It consists of a custom basketball arcade game, ping pong, and an Xbox,” Borlaug said. “We also have a Bevi machine in each kitchen that dispenses flavored still or sparkling water that everyone really seems to enjoy.”

What inspired the design of your office?

“Our workspace was designed with maximizing collaboration in mind,” said marketing director Jessica Vondrak. “From our open seating layout, plentiful whiteboard walls and collaborative spaces, we created a space where people feel free to work together and express their ideas at any time.”

What's the coolest or most unique feature?

“We’ve found that the whiteboards, glass walls and markers everywhere have really helped people with expressing ideas,” Vondrak said. “We use a lot of Idea paint to convert previously blank walls to working spaces and are at a point where people are surprised when they discover a surface isn’t usable.”

Number of CO employees: 249

What inspired the design of your office?

“The architects wanted it to feel timeless, with a high attention to detail and materials,” said Andrew Brown, talent acquisition brand strategist. “Floor to ceiling glass walls grace the hallways, stainless and wood accents are paired with trendy furniture throughout the office and various pieces of environmental artwork showcase CSG’s freshly revamped brand.”

What's the coolest or most unique feature?

“A 3,000-square-foot ‘corporate living room’ on the ground floor eliminates the typical ‘walk in the front door and go up the elevator to your space’ mentality with its vibrant open design,” Brown said. “It allows you to get out of your office and come down to this space for a relaxing view, a cup of gourmet coffee or snack from the coffee shop, or to have a quick meeting in style. We also have some cool features like a digital admin and an open-air kitchen with a cafeteria.”

What's the coolest or most unique feature of your office?

“The views of the mountains,” said senior recruiter Lalita Raman. “We are on the 40th floor and have a fantastic view of the Rockies from pretty much all sides except the east side of the office. We also have a great view of the west part of the city and that makes for a great sight.”
