5 Boulder coffee shops perfect for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and remote workers

Boxcar Coffee Roasters - 1825 Pearl Street

Why it’s awesome: This shop takes coffee to a new level.

Why it’s good for a meeting: There’s not a ton of seating, but what they do have is perfect for a one-on-one meeting. I can’t imagine working on a laptop there, but for interviews or personal meetings it’s pretty good — just expect to wait a bit for your latte to be made. Perfection takes time, after all.

What you should order: Something involving espresso art.

Ozo Coffee - 1015 Pearl Street

Why it’s awesome: It’s decently sized, at least for Pearl Street, so you can sit around and get some work done without feeling like you’re taking up the only table in the shop. They also have food, making it a good location for a breakfast meeting.

Why it’s good for a meeting: It’s centrally located and not overly-hipsterified or pretentious. Also, you certainly won’t be the only person in there working on a laptop.

What you should order: Give a mate latte a try.

Innisfree Poetry Bookstore and Cafe - 1203 13th Street

Why it’s awesome: Tell people you’re working from here and they will think you’re the sort of person who reads poetry. You get to seem all deep and complicated, but you certainly don't have to actually read poetry while there. Plus they make good coffee.

Why it’s good for a meeting: I would not host a meeting here. That said, I would totally bring a notepad or laptop and get some writing done. It’s cozy and makes you feel like the drivel you’re writing (not to slander myself) is way more artistic than it really is.

What you should order: Try reading poetry -- who knows, maybe you’ll get into it.

Red Rock Coffeehouse - 3325 28th Street

Why it’s awesome: They have lots of power outlets, fast internet, comfortable tables and chairs. Also, and I can’t speak to this personally, but people seem to really be enamored with their restrooms — so that’s good if you suffer from IBS.

Why it’s good for a meeting: The space is pretty calm, and you won’t be the only person using the space as an office.

What you should order: Cookies. Lots and lots of cookies.

Flatiron Coffee - 2721 Arapahoe Avenue

Why it’s awesome: The baristas are super-friendly, even by Colorado standards. Somehow the place just exudes a good vibe.

Why it’s good for a meeting: The space is, to put it nicely, cozy. This isn’t a great location for a big meeting, but if you’re lucky enough to get a good spot it’s nice to just sit and get some work done.

What you should order: Try the Polar Cap.
