The Senior Technology Specialist is the person on the ground performing updates, implementations and deployments for new roll-outs. Being a knowledgeable resource in the needs of customers, the limitations of software and hardware and having a technical mind, he/she will provide assistance to discover root causes to end-user and network issues. He/she will also be responsible for advising and assisting users in resolving problems related to software, hardware, the network and peripherals among many other things.

The Day-to-Day

Responsibilities:

  • Performs the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related systems.
  • Assists in determining suitable software to meet user requirements.
  • Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when they relate to personal (desktop or laptop) computers.
  • Responsible for advising and assisting users in solving problems related to hardware, software, networks and peripherals using available technology.
  • Studies and analyzes system needs, troubleshoots technical problems and trains users.
  • Assists in the development, selection and installation of information center tools.
  • Evaluates new and existing software products for opportunities of improvement and efficiency.
  • Advises users on the interpretation of IS reports and report capabilities, limitations, etc.
  • Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.
