Job Summary:

 

The Solutions Architect is often a highly seasoned senior resource who has led multiple projects through the Software development process or Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and has usually performed in a variety of different roles in that life cycle. The person needs an ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language that is the parlance of each group. In this position, you will be responsible for the development of the overall vision that underlies the projected solution and transforms that vision through execution into the solution.

The Solutions Architect becomes involved with a project at the time of inception and in developing the initial requirements. They then remain involved throughout the balance of the project working very closely with developers to ensure proper implementation. You will build a connection between the needs of the organization and the developers, often acting as the connector between Enterprise Architects and Application Architects.

 

Position can be based in any major locations: Greenwood Village - CO; Atlanta - GA; Chicago - IL; Omaha - NE

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides overall technical leadership for end-to-end BSS/OSS enterprise architecture solutions, including integration with partner/third-party components.
  • Prime technical leader of all technical aspects of the solution architecture, defines components for design and development and identifies skills/resources required to develop:
  • Ensures compliance with the principles of quality assurance
  • Follows and promotes the agreed Best Practices and their supporting documentation
  • Acts as a trusted advisor for the customer for design considerations
  • Proactively prevents and resolves technical issues to avoid escalation
  • Ensures the technical viability of solutions as defined in the Statement of Work and subsequent change requests
  • Provides leadership of the project technical teams through the design, build, test, and delivery process Coaches and mentors other architects to build on products and industry knowledge.
  • Reviews and approves estimates for technical tasks as developed by mentored architects.
  • As SME, assists with significant sales opportunities.
  • Provides feedback to the product development organization for improvements, market trends, and product issues.
  • Assists and guides the customer in developing requirements.
  • Provides technical task identification; work estimates and skills required to assist other Architect, the PM, and RM with task scheduling and resource requests.
  • Supports the Agile teams to keep deliverables on target and on time.
  • Assists with technical customer interactions from kick-off through to SIT & UAT.
  • Provides feedback to the product development organization for improvements, market trends, and product issues.
  • Develop and execute a solution strategy and business plan that support product growth when required.
  • Shape, design, and plan specific service lines in the product area.
  • Spearhead product marketing and product development when required
  • Manages a team of direct reports who drive service lines in the solution area.
  • Assists staffing coordinators who define project team requirements for projects in the solution area.
  • Work with Delivery Services Director to define overall recruiting needs and expertise in the solution are.
  • Work with Director of Delivery Services to establish professional development needs for practitioners in the solution area.
  • Mentor and guide more junior architects and technical resources.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering (Telecommunications) or Business (with a major in Computing).

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of software development and application implementation experience – ideally within an Enterprise Environment. Working experience with Cloud, public cloud and enterprise implementation.
  • Hands-on experience in multiple industries and across several disciplines. Ideally should have experience of architecting within Public and Hybrid Cloud environments (AWS ideally).
  • Excellent background in hardware platforms including AWS, distributed platforms, desktops, and mobile devices and understanding of a variety of Operating Systems.
  • Senior design experience in database applications.​
  • Ability to act as visionary and strategist for the solution from end to end.
  • Expertise in identifying and translating system requirements into software design documentation.
  • Highly developed skills in providing end to end solution and design details.
  • Experience in implementing technologically complex Projects.
  • Good interpersonal skills in terms of both oral and written communication and presentation with prospects and the customer.
  • Strong design skills with the ability to document the designs.
  • Highly developed analytical problem-solving skills to identify and diagnose complex problems that require complex methods or theories.
  • Highly developed communication skills to influence and gain cooperation amongst team members.

 

Preferred Experience and Knowledge:

  • Some experience working with Agile teams.
  • Telecommunications industry experience and related product knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Project Management experience/skills an advantage.
  • Ability to identify and highlight technical risks.

 

Travel

  • Up to 30% -50% of regional travel to the customer may be required ​
