M&A Project Manager - Remote Contract
Description
The Project Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to ensure project and team objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Coordinates cross-functional projects and assumes a leadership role in shaping priorities, setting and tracking schedules, driving issue resolution, and ensuring quality.
Requires strong Project Management skills, experience leading successful merger and acquisition integrations, direct experience working across a diverse group of teams, executive leadership and cross company entities.
This is a remote role, but the preferred candidate will reside in Colorado or the Chicago area.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Works with the Strategy Team to lead a post M&A integration project to completion.
- Serves as the primary point of contact with key functions across the company including legal, finance, HR and leadership.
- Understands the business fundamentals, has M&A project experience and has the ability to interface with GHX senior leadership.
- Assists team members in completing defined deliverables and in producing key project artifacts to document the integration.
- Leads and facilitates integration meeting sessions to review goals, timelines, communicative issues and plan for future integration needs.
- Conducts regular and ad hoc updates with stakeholders.
- Works as a liaison within the acquired organization, and interfaces with all relevant teams to ensure that proper scope, resource pools and key dependencies are being defined and developed.
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle. Holds team members accountable to commitments.
- Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones and required tasks, providing early visibility to schedules/milestones that are at risk.
- Builds detailed project plans and schedules for products across all processes, independently managing day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale projects.
- Directs and coordinates activities for project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule.
- Maintains an overall program level risk and issue log. Facilitates risk mitigation and issue resolution across functional managers and sponsors to minimize impact to project schedule.
- Coordinates and facilitates communications with management and across teams.
- Assists the teams with project best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, communication and key performance metrics
- Identifies and facilitates opportunities for process improvement and creates documentation of process for future M&A projects.
- Tactfully communicates sensitive and confidential information.
Required Skills
- Complex PM experience in a corporate and matrixed environment
- M&A integration project experience
- Tech / SaaS industry experience
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of experience in project leadership roles. If a PMP certification is not held, must possess all pre-requisites required by PMI to obtain a PMP certification.
- Advanced knowledge of project management methods and processes, and demonstrated success in delivering complex project scope on time and within budget.
- Proven experience managing key customer relationships and projects.
- Excellent facilitation, time management skills and organizational skills.
- Advanced MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
- Proven Excellent written and verbal and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in delivering presentations to C-level leaders.
- Experience working in the high tech environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment, yet be self-directed, proactive, and action-oriented.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment in complex situations and function independently with initiative, creativity and attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose project performance problems and execute effective corrective actions.
