This job is not a remote position; the employee must report to the printing facility. You will oversee and have responsibility for the overall management and operations of The Denver Post Print Facility which will include direct reports from the pressroom, building maintenance, mailroom, and transportation departments. You must be comfortable and familiar with commercial printing- on offset web presses, mailroom operations, and transportation fleet operations. Top quality printing of The Denver Post and all commercial print clients produced at The Denver Post print facility, is the primary focus and goal. You will report to the General Manager.
What you will do:

  • Plan, evaluate, and collaborate with each department to develop and maintain the markup & schedules for all staff members
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate performance for all staff members, effectively recommending hiring, promotion, termination, disciplinary and commendatory actions of all assigned personnel, ensuring work schedules and associate needs are met
  • Supervise staff in compliance with company policy and union guidelines and coordinate all operations schedules to meet customer fulfillment and deadlines
  • Ensure we comply with safety and environmental regulations, including ongoing safety training programs
  • Maintain effective, open communication within the operations departments, fostering a favorable work environment based on fairness, dignity, and respect for all employees, both exempt and non-exempt, following union and company guidelines
  • Ensure all departments submit accurate payroll for each department; track and schedule employee PTO within company/union guidelines while staying within guidelines set forth by Colorado State Law
  • Manage and maintain the departmental budgets, including weekly flash with fiscal reporting as required
  • Monitor, schedule, troubleshoot, and oversee the maintenance of production equipment to ensure the quality of printing is acquired to meet commercial client fulfillment and avoid unforeseen breakdowns
  • Participate in labor negotiations as needed for all union contracts

What you will bring:

  • Leadership & general management skills with effective and exceptional oral and written communication skills - for both internal and external customers
  • Knowledge and experience in commercial printing, pressroom, mailroom, and transportation operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Troubleshooting skills, specifically targeting pressroom, mailroom, and transportation equipment
  • Basic understanding of commercial client interactions, including Contracts and the RFP bid process
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Five years (minimum) upper management experience in Commercial Printing Operations, to include Offset -web presses, Mailroom inserting & palletizer equipment, along with fleet operations and DOT compliance and awareness

The annual salary range is $150,000 - $175,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance.
