The VP, Claims Operations will be responsible for building out Pie's Claims Operations, which will include data, training, shared services and vendor management. This will be a new team that will collaborate closely across the organization. They are responsible for the outcomes the team generates through work quality, work cadence, process excellence, and continuous improvement. They embody the company’s values, are excellent communicators, lead from the front, and can galvanize a team to action. They take a collaborative, first-principles, and disciplined approach to leadership. They are comfortable yielding thought leadership to their team, while also stepping in as a subject matter expert as appropriate.
How You’ll Do It
Leadership
- Responsible for building and scaling Claims Operations function at Pie. Enterprise-level strategic decision-making on issues that impact the Pie's Claims team.
- Member of the Claims senior leadership team. Develop and direct a team of directors, managers, and high-level individual contributors, including setting and tracking goals, assigning and reviewing work, managing related processes and staff activities, performance management, coaching, and mentoring.
- Develop, measure, and coach to performance goals and measurements (KPIs) for the Pie claims operations leaders.
- Effectively control and direct the activities of the complex Claims Operations team bringing significant impact on the company.
Operational Execution
- Build/model and track budgets for headcount planning.
- Define and own company-wide OKRs, including quality, efficiency, and NPS.
- Oversight and accountability for vendor services that drive efficiency for the claims operation.
- Develop and implement change management practices and procedures.
Operational Strategy
- Design, develop, and implement a strategy for centralized data and operations, including where to invest in infrastructure based on corporate strategy.
- Demonstrate proficiency in influencing and transforming a claims operation by articulating and executing Pie's shared vision.
- Build key functions from the ground level while supporting the scaling and standardizing of other areas of business (including shared services operation).
The Right Stuff
- 10+ years of experience in Insurance claims operations or related field
- 5+ years focus on claims data
- Advanced understanding of insurance claims and related operations
- Ability to interpret and articulate claims data insight and drive action
- A combination of large and small company experience is ideal, but the proven ability to operate in an entrepreneurial, rapid-growth environment is a must.
- Experience building and managing teams of 15+, with a track record of developing next-generation leaders on your team as evidenced by their career successes. Must have experience managing second-line managers.
- The ability to attract talent at all stages of their careers, from a deep network within the Insurance community.
- A mindset that is both operationally driven and adaptable; proven experience implementing processes, setting KPIs, monitoring results, and the ability to pivot when required.
Base Compensation Range for position: $215,000 - $310,000

Location Information
Unless otherwise specified, this role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver or DC office and from home. Remote team members must live and work in the United States* (*territories excluded), and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
